Sabrina, the Cat
71Witches should have at least one cat. I am a witch, a good witch. That’s what my best friend says (she is a good witch herself) and my friend is always right. So, I bought a cat.
She is a 4plus years old doll-faced Persian cat. I had her for 3 years already. The pet shop owner said she was 1+ year old that time I bought her.
I consider myself a dog person not really much of a cat lover and having Sabrina for the past three years did not change much my preference. Dogs adore the master but with cats, I found out it's the other way around. The master got to adore them.
Early days with me and her first bath
She was not a tame cat. I don't know much about her previous life because according to the pet owner the cat was left behind by a 'customer' who had to leave for some faraway land and that he had to dispose/sell his pet cat. It took me almost a month of sweet talking and constant stomach rubbing before I got her to like me. She had to stay inside a cage during those days because I got dogs around.
The dogs (3 shih tzu's and a choco Lab) were wary at first but they accepted sabrina after being familiar of her smell on me. I allowed the dogs to peer into the cage once a day in preparation for the day when I can set her free and roam inside the house. The ploy seemed to work because after a month she was able to stay in the same room with the shih tzu's without a fight and without taking flight.
Sabrina hates getting wet, I guess this is normal with all cats. I have to find a way to bath her without getting scratched or doing catch-a-wet-screaming-cat around the bathroom. She can't stay inside the house without having a thorough clean-up.The solution was to use a cage, a water hose, and an improvised glass-cleaner sprayer. The cage size was enough for her to move around and and at the same time limit her movements, shampooing was done using the glass-cleaner sprayer and .then I hose her down to rinse off. Actually, I am still using the same technique up to now. Boy! it was pandemonium - dogs barking, cat screaming, kids laughing (I gave her a bath in the garage area) and was she mad at me! I was only forgiven after I gave her her favorite food, boiled chicken breast and chicken liver.
Oh Sabrina my Sabrina...
My room is Sabrina's room too. It's the only place my dogs are banned. I guess Sabrina is honored to be the only four-legged creature to enter my room. It helped hasten our bonding.
Cats purr and purr and purr. It's so relaxing you can sleep easily when a cat lies besides your pillow or nestles against your neck.
Sabrina added laughter to my home. Her antics and 'war games' are fun to watch. Although she is an added mouth to feed, her joyful presence more than make up for the increased expenses.
This video is highly recommended for washing a cat.

Cats are great! I hope you don't bathe her too often. Generally, it's not a good practice to bathe cats. It's only recommended if you have allergies. Otherwise, because cats are very clean creatures by nature, you should not bathe them, and because the oils on their skin is very important for them to keep a healthy coat of fur. Bathing cats can dry out their skin. Not like dogs, who definitely need baths.

Cat lover #2 here, and mine is the hero of a whole book Hub. Also a fan of poems including Haiku. Politics get thrown in and I'm watching for your take on such things.
